Our Story

18 Below is the brainchild of Paul Wehba and Lou Ciferni. Nice to meet you! In 2009 during the pet food safety crisis, we emphatically said, “ENOUGH!” Being huge animal lovers ourselves, we put our experience with highly regulated human food to work to nourish cats and dogs safely, and to live up to the high expectations of their humans.

After analyzing health trends and pet food advances, we landed squarely in the freeze dried space. Done right (a la 18 Below!), freeze dried products offer many benefits, including being lightweight, having a long shelf life, and being nutritious and delicious. Due to popular demand, a 15,000 square foot expansion of our USDA-inspected, APHIS-approved, SQF-certified facility is currently underway which will triple our freeze-dried production capacity. Who knew this pet project would grow this big?
